Please help a homeless person stay warm

Buy an

Invisible Hat

My Mum, Elizabeth Heppell and her friend, Betty Walton, have spent the last year knitting more than 100 beautiful hats, scarves and gloves for homeless men, women and children.

Today they were donated to two wonderful charities; The People’s Kitchen and Changing Lives, who directly support individuals facing homelessness.

Two amazing women have already done the hard work and what they’ve created is full of love. Now you can join in by doing something brilliantly simple.

You can buy an Invisible Hat

Why buy an Invisible Hat?

  • When you buy an invisible hat you don’t actually receive a hat. You'll be making a donation to the People’s Kitchen and Changing Lives.

  • Your donation helps The People’s Kitchen and Changing Lives continue their work, giving warmth, food and support to people who need it most.

  • Liz and Betty have already knitted more than 100 real hats, scarves and gloves. Your donation complements their hard work.

Their hands provided the warmth.

Your kindness makes the warmth go further.

What happens next?

  • You choose the amount you donate - every £ helps.

  • You don’t receive a physical hat. The real hat has already been knitted and donated - it's already keeping someone warm. Your hat is invisible. (And it’s stunning by the way).

  • 100% of your donation goes directly to The People’s Kitchen and Changing Lives. Michael Heppell Ltd takes care of the admin and secure payments.

  • The People’s Kitchen uses your gift to provide food, clothing and comfort.

  • Changing Lives MET team go out every single day of the year day at 6.30am to support those experiencing rough sleeping

Elizabeth and Betty have done the knitting. You could add some extra warmth.

    The People's Kitchen
We support homeless and vulnerable people and help fight hunger and loneliness for locals in need. They might be at risk of homelessness, unemployed, lonely or living in poverty. For people who experience these difficulties, we are a light in the dark.

    Changing Lives
The Newcastle Rough Sleeper/ Multiple Exclusion Team (MET) supports people who are sleeping rough, sofa surfing or have nowhere to stay. We carry out early morning outreach to identify those rough sleeping and offer support.

We also respond to all citywide alerts of people suspected to be rough sleeping or homeless.
